Hey there, I’m Jenay!
I’m a former elementary school principal with 22 years experience in education – from a teacher to a coach to a principal and now a district leader. I believe that through shared leadership, and building trust, community, and ownership, schools can create opportunities for the greatest success for our students.
I know that the job is not easy, with demands pulling you in multiple directions at once. In my early years as a school principal, I easily worked 60 hours a week and nights and weekends were the norm. I burned the candle at both ends trying to keep up with managing and leading my school and I was on the road to burnout.
Once I started my family, I had no choice but to create a work style that was sustainable, so I could go home at a decent hour and take care of my babies, be present with my family, and also take care of my own well-being.
Now I’m here to share what I’ve learned and the systems I use to manage my time and tasks in order to be the most effective leader I can while I’m on the job.

that I live by keep me out of the hustle culture at work and allow me to operate in harmony both at work and home. I can’t wait to share it with others who could use a little support to get there!

I was honored to receive the 2020 Association of California School Administrators Region 8 Elementary Principal of the Year Award, and after 9 years as a site principal, I now serve my district as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
Mentorship is my thing!
I support leaders both formally and informally and especially love to work with new administrators. While I do miss being a principal, I love that I get to support many school sites in my role as Director.

I'm A Mom!
My staff and colleagues have been with me through 2 pregnancies and 4 years of sleep deprivation. They are so supportive! When I’m not at work I’m busy raising my two spirited, curious, adorable young daughters. I could really use a nap.
I Love Teachers!
I love teachers so much that I married one! But seriously, my original passion is teaching and I appreciate what it takes to be a great teacher. I especially love to witness teachers evolve over time. It’s magical!
I Breathe!
Practicing dedicated and integrated mindfulness has changed how I show up for others. I have presented to teachers and leaders in my district, and classified leaders statewide on practices that boost self-awareness and empathy.
